Eureka is a hand-drawn, text-based animated film that takes us through early American hollow earth theories, failed conquests of Antarctica, and colonial violence in Fiji to subterranean and airborne tales by Edgar Allan Poe. Herman Melville is in the film too. Eureka lifts off with the first hot air balloon flight in the U.S., pays tribute to Michael Snow's film "So Is This," proclaims its love for you, and eulogizes a 400 year old oak tree in New Jersey. Though Eureka, we're transported through stories, not knowing where they will take us. We've read together for forty-one minutes. We've changed.
